Kum Nye – Tibetan Yoga Workshop with Santosh Philip

September 22 – 24, 2017

We are delighted to welcome to Kansas City and the Rime Center Santosh Philip, September 22nd through 24th. Santosh will be leading us in a system of Tibetan yoga called Kum Nye. Based on a traditional healing system, Kum Nye Yoga helps to relieve stress, transform negative patterns and promote balance and health. Developed by Tibetan Lama Tarthang Tulku, this presentation of Kum Nye practices is thoroughly modern and adapted specifically to suit modern needs. The practice of Kum Nye includes stillness, movement, postures, breathing exercises, self-massage and a little bit of visualization. These practices address the three kinds of tension held in the body – 1) superficial tensions, 2) blockages in the energy channels, and 3) knots in the chakras.

May 13th–14th, 2017

m_f7fa3d99d68a2c6d5921eb6e14a6282cWe are extremely delighted to welcome back Younge Khachab Rinpoche the Rime Center, May 13 through 14th. Rinpoche will be giving teachings on the Dream Yoga and give the Vajrasattva empowerment. In the bardo of dream, the primary methods taught to realize the nature of mind and appearances is the training in Dream yoga. This set of practices includes training in recognition of the dream state, also called “lucid dreaming”; transforming the dream state once recognition is gained; and the enhancement practices, by which obstacles are overcome.

Rinpoche will bestow the Vajrasattva empowerment. Minling Dorsem or ‘Mindroling Vajrasattva’ is a famous practice of Vajrasattva revealed as a terma by Terdak Lingpa in 1676. Vajrasattva is a sambhogakaya Buddha who embodies all of the five Buddha families. He is also a support for purification practices. Rinpoche will be giving extensive and practical instructions based on his vast study and personal experience. This is an incredible opportunity to receive teachings and instruction from a true Dzogchen master.

The Heart Sutra is the most popular sutra of the prajñaparamita collection and indeed of the Mahayana as a whole. Although the sutra primarily consists of a dialogue between Shariputra and the great Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, their words are inspired by the blessings of the Buddha, who remains absorbed in samadhi meditation until the end of the discussion.  Prajñaparamita  is the wisdom of directly realizing the non-conceptual simplicity of all phenomena, which has arrived at, or will lead one to, non-abiding nirvana.
