Obituary for Sophia Alexandra Reynolds, Tsering Drolkar

unnamedSophia Alexandra Reynolds, 11, of Kansas City, Missouri, died of sudden cardiac arrest on Friday, July 22, 2016, at 7:19 a.m., while vacationing in Estes Park, Colorado, with her father and paternal grandmother.

Sophia was born at 4:32 p.m. on October 27, 2004, in Kansas City, Missouri. She lived in the Volker neighborhood her entire life with her parents. She attended Border Star Montessori School in Brookside, where she would’ve entered the sixth grade this fall. Sophia was active as a Girl Scout Junior, where she had just received her Bronze Award for community service. Continue reading

Chökhor Düchen, the ‘Festival of Turning the Wheel of Dharma’

43_49_1c0a7abc1d89391Chökhor Düchen, the ‘Festival of Turning the Wheel of Dharma’. It occurs on the fourth day of the sixth Tibetan lunar month. For seven weeks after his enlightenment, Buddha did not teach. Finally, encouraged by Indra and Brahma, he turned the Wheel of Dharma for the first time, at Sarnath, by teaching the ‘Four Noble Truths’.

The Rime Center will be hosting a series of Shakyamuni Buddha Pujas and open meditation sessions as an opportunity for you to come in and meditate throughout the day at your own pace and time limit. Continue reading
