20 Years of Leadership and Service

IMG_2891Thank you Lama Chuck and Mary for 20 years of leadership and service to the Rime Buddhist Center. During the 20th Anniversary celebration the Sangha bestowed Chuck Stanford the title Lama Emeritus and wished him blessings in his retirement at the end of the year.

Mahayana Sutra Studies

Around one hundred Mahayana sutras survive in Sanskrit or Tibetan translations. Mahayana sutras are passed down as the legacy of Gautama Buddha: early versions were not written documents but orally preserved teachings said to be verses that were committed to memory and recited by his disciples, in particular Ananda, which were viewed as a substitute for the actual speech of the Buddha following his death. We will study these rich Buddhist teachings.

Come Celebrate 20 Years of the Rime Center

July 25th, 2015

Rime20thJoin us as we celebrate 20 years of the Rime Center in Kansas City.  Come early and help kick off the party with Lama Chuck and Mary.

There will be an open house beginning a 4:30 pm with live music from Cachecanto, featuring Rime member Thomas Nelson. Children of all ages will have fun creating sidewalk chalk art and making prayer flags. Potluck dinner starts at 6:00 pm, in true Rime Center fashion!
